KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 27 (Bernama) -- Public-listed healthcare company, Malaysian Genomics Resource Centre Berhad (MGRC), and its subsidiary, pathology services company Clinipath (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd (Clinipath) today announced the availability of affordable, fast-turnaround, liquid biopsy tests developed by CIRCULOGENE Diagnostics LLC for doctors in Malaysia.
Liquid biopsies offer a non-invasive, quick, cheaper and safer, complement to surgical biopsies. They can provide real-time and actionable information about a tumour including which treatments, especially targeted therapies, are available for a particular patient. CIRCULOGENE’s CLIA/CAP-certified liquid biopsy tests examine cell-free nucleic acids to provide full genomic load analysis of somatic and germline mutations, DNA and RNA, and immunotherapy biomarkers all from a single standard tube of blood. This testing enables accurate and real-time data to help doctors and their patients choose the best available targeted therapies and available clinical trials, monitor efficacy and monitor for recurrence. Conventional tissue biopsies (usually from the primary tumour) are used to determine molecular profiles at a single time point on a single site before targeted therapy commences. CIRCULOGENE’s liquid biopsy test offers what tissue biopsies cannot, the opportunity to take serial samples for longitudinal monitoring of tumour clonal evolution in circulation. “CIRCULOGENE’s liquid biopsy allows doctors to ensure personalised targeted treatment efficacy, monitor drug resistance, metastasis and recurrence, tailoring patients to the right treatment for the right target without delay,” said Dr Chen-Hsiung Yeh, Co-founder and Chief Scientific Officer of CIRCULOGENE. He added, “tumour genome sequencing on circulating cfDNA to guide treatment decisions could be the standard-of-care for new-generation cancer management in the era of precision medicine.” mrem.bernama.com/viewsm.php?idm=33879 Let’s take a stroll down Sunway Pyramid’s Beauty Walk, featuring first in Malaysia flagship stores!

According to a statement, positive results from Dtect BRCA+ may identify a need for regular, pathology surveillance to catch either of these diseases early when they are easiest to treat, and may also be useful to encourage positive lifestyle changes to mitigate the risk of hereditary breast cancer or ovarian cancer from occurring. Early detection and treatment of breast cancer and ovarian cancer (at Stage 1) can led to a five-year relative survival rate of 87.5 per cent and 82.8 per cent, respectively, according to a Health Ministry study. The study on cancer incidence and survival rates published by the ministry in 2018, which was observed at any age above 40, also found that the mortality rate for breast cancer was 43.3 per cent, while it was 52.9 per cent for ovarian cancer. Symptoms for breast cancer may include swelling of all or part of a breast, skin irritation, thickening of the nipple or breast skin and abnormal nipple discharge while symptoms for ovarian cancer may include abdominal bloating, indigestion, increased urge to urinate, constipation and menstrual irregularities. Exhibited at IDEX 2019 in Abu Dhabi, the weaponised warfare system features the THeMIS UGV equipped with the R400S – Mk2-HD (dual) RWS mounting 30mm ATK M23 LF cannon and a coaxial 7.62mm GPMG. The remotely operated vehicle enhances a land force’s firepower; situational awareness due to advanced sensors; increases stand-off distance, and is especially, effective against light armoured vehicles. According to a statement, the vehicle can also be equipped with autonomous functions used for area or perimeter patrolling for which the system will always be under the control of a human (man-in-the-loop). “Due to the system’s light weight and size, our joint product can be rapidly deployed with mounted and/or dismounted units, requiring less logistical effort,” said Milrem Robotics chief executive officer, Kuldar Väärsi. This is the first integration project for the two companies and the largest calibre cannon fitted to the THeMIS platform.
