IRONNET BAGS 2021 CYBERSECASIA READERS' CHOICE AWARD IN NETWORK MONITORING & OBSERVABILITY30/10/2021 KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 29 (Bernama) -- IronNet Inc, an innovative leader transforming cybersecurity through Collective Defense, has been named winner of the prestigious 2021 CybersecAsia Readers’ Choice Award in the Network Monitoring & Observability category.
The award recognises cybersecurity leaders in APAC for their critical roles played and advances and innovations made over the last two years. IronNet defends enterprises, sectors, and nations against sophisticated cyber attacks and highly organised cyber adversaries, according to a statement. The company’s Collective Defense platform comprises IronDefense and IronDome solutions: IronDefense offers advanced behavioural and pattern-based network detection and response (NDR) capabilities to protect against known and unknown cyber threats, while IronDome provides real-time, collective threat intelligence sharing amongst community members. The platform provides unparalleled visibility for organisations to see the broad attack surface, and automatically identifies, filters, prioritises, and correlates alerts across participants’ enterprise networks, allowing organisations to rapidly detect and mitigate even the most sophisticated attacks. “We are honoured to receive this award and that our customers and peers recognise our efforts to increase security and resilience for the region’s enterprises,” said Gaurav Chhiber, IronNet’s Vice President for APAC and Japan. “Cybercrime is now an organised and sophisticated industry — a threat enterprises can’t counter with traditional practices, tools, and techniques. Defending in isolation no longer works, so IronNet is proud to be acknowledged for our Collective Defense approach and network defence technology that enables a mindshift in the way we think about cybersecurity.” Meanwhile, CybersecAsia Editor-in-Chief, Victor Ng said: “IronNet’s IronDefense is probably the most advanced network detection and response platform built to stop sophisticated cyber-threats. “As cyber-attacks are evolving faster than most organisations can manage alone, IronDome – the automated Collective Defense solution from IronNet – allows organisations to collaborate across industries through real-time threat sharing and delivers collective threat intelligence at machine speed for IronDefense to perform even better at ‘Network Monitoring and Observability’. -- BERNAMA

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 27 -- At the 2021 ‘Belt and Road’ Land-sea Linkage Qingdao Summit held recently, the Global International Shipping Center Index - Northeast Asia Report (2021), Xinhua-Shandong Port Bulk Commodity Index and trade connectivity index report of RCEP member states (2021) were published.
Experts believe that through accurate depiction of the changes of port bulk commodity trade in the form of indexes and establishment of the efficient linkage among ports, bulk commodity and trade, the competitiveness of ports will be enhanced. In addition, trade transformation and upgrading will be expedited, and the ability to stabilise the price and supply of bulk commodities will be strengthened, so as to provide a ‘bellwether’ for the development of the industry, according to a statement. The ‘Global International Shipping Center Index’, established by China Economic Information Service with support of the Baltic Exchange, is another world-class port and shipping evaluation index launched globally, on the basis of the ‘Xinhua-Baltic International Shipping Center Development Index’. The first phase of the index focused on Northeast Asia, and 17 ports in China, Japan, South Korea and Russia were selected as sample ports. Meanwhile, Xinhua-Shandong Port Bulk Commodity Index was developed and established by Shandong Port Group Co Ltd in collaboration with China Economic Information Service. It is an important move for the Port to probe into the possibility of taking the index as the starting point to enhance the ability of global resource allocation. In the trade connectivity index report of RCEP member states (2021), a number of bilateral trade network relations were established in terms of trade exchanges, capital flows and key commodities to show the overall trade status and future evolution among RCEP member states, and reflect the development level of trade interoperability of RCEP member states. The report also points out that major member states of RCEP are highly complementary in terms of industrial structure and have a close trade and investment relation in import and export, with a promising prospect for future cooperation. -- BERNAMA KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 29 (Bernama) -- Vietnam is the first country in the world to routinely use an innovative method to diagnose tuberculosis (TB) using stool.
The Simple One-Step Stool Method, developed by KNCV Tuberculosis Foundation, is implemented in 10 healthcare facilities across the country, according to a statement. “This simple and painless test is an important development for diagnosing TB in children under the age of five and people living with HIV. This can save many lives and reduce suffering,” said Director of the National Lung Hospital and Head of the Vietnam National Tuberculosis Control Program (NTP), Prof Dr Nguyen Viet Nhung. To raise the number of children being diagnosed and treated on time, the NTP decided to start an implementation pilot – financed by the Global Fund - with the KNCV Simple One-Step (SOS) Stool Method. This turned out to be very successful and made the NTP decide to continue working with the SOS Stool Method routinely. Worldwide, sputum from the lungs is currently mainly used as a sample to diagnose TB. However, it can be very difficult for many people living with HIV and children to cough up sputum. “These invasive methods are often traumatising for the children, parents and healthcare workers. Materials for these procedures are not available everywhere and sometimes it is only done when the child is already very ill. “This results in many children worldwide not being diagnosed or being diagnosed too late,” said executive director of KNCV Tuberculosis Foundation (KNCV), Mustapha Gidado. A stool sample is painless and easy to obtain from children. KNCV laboratory experts dove into the matter and developed the SOS Stool Method, that was first presented during the Union World Conference in 2018. KNCV Tuberculosis Foundation provides online training courses for laboratory staff, so that all countries can start using this method for diagnosing TB in children and people living with HIV. Vietnam sets an example of how this can be done successfully on all levels. -- BERNAMA TOKYO, Oct 28 (Bernama-BUSINESS WIRE) -- Azbil Corporation (TOKYO:6845) announced the release of the Smart HART Modem model AZ-1SHM (hereafter, “1SHM”), which facilitates the configuration and adjustment of HART®*¹ communication–compliant field devices at plants and other manufacturing sites. The 1SHM was launched in Japan and other regions*² on October 20.
This press release features multimedia. View the full release here: https://www.businesswire.com/news/home/20211028005489/en/ A HART modem is a digital communication interface device for setting up and configuring HART communication–compliant field devices such as sensors and valves (“HART devices”), which are installed in large numbers at manufacturing sites. In a new or expanded plant or during shutdown maintenance, maintenance personnel connect a host device via HART modems to HART devices to configure various parameters. In some cases, a problem related to wiring, connection environment, device compatibility or the power supply may prevent a connection. To investigate and mitigate the problem, a power supply, oscilloscope, or other equipment may be required. Additionally, field devices are sometimes installed in hard-to-reach places, putting the worker in danger. The new 1SHM solves these problems. In addition to communication interface functions, it is equipped with functions to identify the cause of communication problems during configuration and setup. It also has wireless connectivity and a power supply function, allowing more efficient and safer maintenance. Since the modem can be used with Azbil’s and other companies’ HART devices, maintenance workers can safely and quickly handle communication problems using a single 1SHM unit. This product won the 2020 Good Design Award in Japan and 2021 Red Dot Award in Germany. Features 1. LEDs for quick understanding of device status The front LEDs enable users to instantly see the power and communication status. Elementary mistakes that cause connection problems (no power supply, incompatibility, etc.) can be detected quickly. 2. Communication problem diagnosis A single 1SHM unit and included software provide functions that usually require dedicated equipment (oscilloscopes, protocol monitors, etc.), including displaying communication waveforms, noise level, and communication data. Workers can identify causes of communication problems quickly and reduce downtime. 3. Power for field devices The 1SHM can power a HART device, ensuring reliable setup and configuration. 4. Wireless connection to host Field devices are sometimes hard to reach. Also, the work environment may worsen due to weather conditions, and maintenance work in a safer and more comfortable place may be desired. The 1SHM can connect to the host device wirelessly via Bluetooth Classic, so the user can work in a safe place comfortably without being restricted by cable length. 5. Easy-to-understand and highly visible design with ergonomics in mind The ergonomic design offers high usability and visibility. XH-SPG PCI was developed and established by Shandong Port Group Co Ltd in collaboration with China Economic Information Service based on the advantageous varieties of Shandong Port. At present, the officially released XH-SPG PCI covers crude oil price index, iron ore inventory and entry and exit index, coke inventory and entry and exit index, steel billet price index and hot-rolled coil price index. It has been established to truly reflect the fluctuation trend of bulk commodity market of the Port and provide value benchmark and effective reference for port trade activities, according to a statement. Specifically, the estimated CIF price of crude oil can be used by enterprises to predict the premiums and discounts of crude oil trade in two months, and the spot crude oil price index can reflect the crude oil CIF price at the current time node. The operation results of the index show that since the base period (Feb 3, 2020), the overall index has seen a ‘V’ trend, with a fall followed by a rise. At the beginning, the global crude oil consumption demand was greatly reduced due to the outbreak of COVID-19. After that, with the resumption of work and production in China and the easing of release of OPEC + crude oil production capacity, the global crude oil supply and demand remained in a tight balance, and the index showed a volatile rising trend. In addition, for the iron ore inventory index, entry and exit index of iron ore, coke inventory index and entry and exit index of coke, Jan 1, 2021 is taken as the base period. The compliant actual inventory data and entry and exit volume data of iron ore and coke in Shandong Port were collected respectively to reflect the overall change trend of iron ore and coke inventory in Shandong Port and the circulation activity of the Port. According to the plan, the varieties involved in the index will be gradually enriched in the future, and the index will also be extended to cover other coastal ports, so as to continue to build an index information platform of ‘seeing Shandong for port bulk commodities’. -- BERNAMA KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 27 (Bernama) -- The Women’s Entrepreneurship Accelerator (WEA), a strategic multi-partnership convening five UN agencies and Mary Kay Inc, is joining forces with the Commonwealth Businesswomen’s Network (CBWN) to empower and support underserved women entrepreneurs across the 54 countries of the Commonwealth. A new rapid screening test for glaucoma could help advance early detection of the disease, a leading cause of irreversible blindness. Developed by a research team of engineers and ophthalmologists led by RMIT University in Melbourne, Australia, the test uses infra-red sensors to monitor eye movement and can produce accurate results within seconds. About 80 million people worldwide have glaucoma, with more than 111 million expected to be living with the disease by 2040. The loss of sight is usually gradual and 50% of people with glaucoma do not know they have it. Currently, glaucoma is diagnosed through a 30-minute eye pressure test delivered by an ophthalmologist. The new AI-powered test takes just 10 seconds to show if there is a risk of glaucoma, making it ideal for use in a national screening program. Lead researcher Professor Dinesh Kumar, RMIT, said early detection, diagnosis and treatment could help prevent blindness, so making screening faster and more accessible was critical. "This research will allow a non-contact, easy-to-use and low-cost test that can performed routinely at general clinics," he said. "It could also promote a community-wide screening program, reaching people who might not otherwise seek treatment until it's too late." How it works The pioneering technology differentiates between glaucoma and healthy eyes by analysing changes in pupil size. In the study, published in IEEE Access, pupils were measured 60 times per second using a low-cost commercial eye tracker. Under ambient light conditions, patients looked at a computer screen while custom software measured and analysed specific changes in their pupil size. The software then compared the results against existing samples of glaucoma and healthy eyes to determine the risk of glaucoma. Dr Quoc Cuong Ngo, RMIT, said the new tech was faster and better than any similar AI-based approach. "Our software can measure how the pupil adjusts to ambient light and capture minuscule changes in the shape and size of the pupil," he said. "Existing AI glaucoma tests require the patient to be perfectly still for up to 10 minutes. Our tech does the job in 10 seconds, without compromising on accuracy." Next steps The team is now looking to adapt the technology to work with smartphone cameras instead of the eye tracker used in the study. They are also looking for a commercial partner ahead of a clinical trial planned for 2022 - email [email protected]. With further research, the software could also be extended to detect other neurological conditions. 'Pupillary complexity for the screening of glaucoma', with RMIT co-authors Quoc Cuong Ngo, Susmit Bhowmik, Marc Sarossy and Dinesh Kumar, is published in IEEE Access (DOI: 10.1109/ACCESS.2021.3122079). https://ieeexplore.ieee.org/document/9584846 Interviews: Aeden Ratcliffe, RMIT Communications, [email protected] or +61(0)3 9925 3336.
